GETTING TO/ TONGA
It's so easy to visit Tonga. A 30 day visa is automatically granted on your arrival upon presentation of an onward ticket (check Tonga Visitors Bureau link for detailed information http://www.tongaholiday.com/tonga/export/sites/TVB/visas/index.html). This visa can be extended at any immigration office.

GETTING AROUND TONGA - BIKES, CARS, BUSES & FERRIES!

The Tonga Visitors Bureau (phone +676 25-334 or info@tvb.gov.to) will be able to answer any transport query you may have. Here are some contacts for transport in Nuku'alofa.

TAXI - The minimum taxi fare around Nuku'alofa is T$3 (the Tongan $is worth about 50 US cents). Taxis are plentiful and can be recognised by their 'T' licence plates.  A ride from the airport is T$30-$40 one way and trips around Nuku'alofa can cost up to T$6. 

BUS - Bus depots are located on Vuna Road on the waterfront opposite the Tonga Visitors Bureau. Signs on the front of the buses will tell you their destination, or just ask the drivers for help. Fares are 60 seniti f(Tongan cents) or a short trip around town or T$1.50 for outer suburbs.

CAR - We would be happy to make arrangements for you. BICYCLE - Bikes can be hired from Niko's Bicycle Rentals. Average rentals are T$2 per hour and T$8 for the day.

FERRY - You can travel from Tongatapu to Ha'apai and Vava'u by ferry once a week, to the Niuas once a month and to 'Eua once a day.
